Week 4
17.08.2008
Well the past week we have had things slightly more relaxed, although that only allowed for tiredness to catch up with me.
The mornings were spent learning about Ezekiel from Tony Watkins. Was good in many ways. For me the highlight was the Tuesday where he spent the 3 hours looking at the history of the Northern and Southern kingdoms of Israel and Judah, and outlining the lineage of kings and the context of the exile into which Ezekiel spoke. Some people found it boring, but then they get their kicks out of theology which I don't
Afternoons were in theory for reading. Monday was spent sleeping. Tuesday I tried reading all of Ezekiel and failed cause its really long and difficult. Wednesday we had a seminar on how to be a good steward of your money. as with all of these kinds of seminars, it was given from a successful businessman. I disagreed with alot of what he said, particularly the need for life goals. I'm 22 and he wanted to know when I planned to be finnancially independent from work.
Thursday afternoon we gave our talks. Ezekiel 33 v 1-20, a really good passage on being watchmen. Reassuring in its content in that we ARE called to be watchmen, and therefore we have a reason for sharing the Bible. It's not that we are looking to gain points (and if it is thats WRONG), its that we are called to be watchmen and given a severe warning that the blood of others will be on our hands if we do not complete that task. So be watchmen for the benefit of others, simply for obedience sake and ultimately to glorify God
Watched Das leben der anderen (the Lives of others) on Tuesday. Absolutely superb film looking at an individual in the Stasi (Secret Police) in East Germany in the 80s. Highly recommend it. it is a stunning portrayal of watching a machine break into a human
This weekend has been wonderfully refreshing. sleeping, chilling out, making daft videos for the craic and reading and hanging out with God. It's been very refreshing, which isnt a word I can use too often. Need it to, for next week is a busy one
sorry there is nothing more interesting to report. I assure you I am not losing personality in some sort of indoctrination camp, merely routine is sucking the life out of things
